All You Need is Love - Wearable Sculpture

This story box sculpture actually has two purposes, one is sculptural, and the other is that the cushion in the main body of the box can be slipped out, and the little central heart and birds removed, then this part can be worn as a brooch.

Then, when you aren't wearing it, you can just pop it back in its box on display. This is set inside an antique timeworn jewellery box, circa early 1900's. which stands on tiny stained black wood feet, which were originally collar studs for men's shirts, c. early 1900's. The words 'all you need is love' are sculpted from brass wire, and sewn on to a tiny fragment of Victorian blue velvet, which in turn is on some rumple gathered blue silk, which was the lining of a different antique box. The main body has a background of the same Victorian dark blue velvet, which was originally from a handmade crazy patchwork quilt circa the late 1800's.

This has been embellished with tiny hand-embroidered gold thread stars. The brooch itself is circa early 1900's. It was originally a souvenir piece, as the centre had the Eiffel tower on it. This was removed, and instead a tiny padded red heart from some antique red velvet from the same Victorian crazy quilt was fashioned. On to this, the word love is sculpted from wire, which is the end of the phrase of the box 'all you need is love'
