Several arms of a huge octopus emerge from a wild sea to capture a lighthouse, featuring squalling waves and the rays of light from the lantern. A beautifully hand carved wooden panel in sycamore and finished with a natural beeswax.
Originating in Scandinavian folklore, tales of the Kraken reached British shores through the rum-soaked stories of sailors.
In this carved interpretation, the creature of the deep surrounds a lighthouse shining bright against a wild sea as its tentacles rise from the dark water below.
The piece reflects strength and resilience - the steady presence of light amid uncertainty - and reminds us of the respect owed to nature’s untamed power and the unknown wonders of the deep.
